I couldn’t play video or music downloaded from itunes after trying ijailbreak. any info on this?

@ Shadow
I’ll get back to you ASAP regarding that issue. I have no idea about that error.
Have you considered:
- manually restarting the ipod?
- trying the jailbreak again?
However if you’re impatient, you might want to try out ipodtouchmaster’s version. He has his own repo, and he has a video proof for it.
Read: Jailbreak 1.1.3 – ipodtouchmaster’s method
EDIT:
Ok. I think I found a solution for you.
My guess is that you are trying to jailbreak directly from 1.1.1 to 1.1.3. It seems that (most people are also experiencing this) this problem is from 1.1.1.
Solution: Upgrade from 1.1.1 to 1.1.2, then use the 1.1.2 option via the Installer prior to iJailBreak method.
Make sure you have OktoPrep installed. Don’t know what I’m talking about? Read my other post.
I know you’re doing an additional step, but the original post claims to have said that it should work for 1.1.1. Now I’m also confused by that claim.
I think I will advice my future readers to use 1.1.2 instead. That way, it will have less problem.
Do try it out and let me know of the outcome.
Sorry if I wasn’t being of any help to you.
Good luck! =)

Hi BobbyW
That’s the first time I heard that music or videos can’t be played.
You might want to try to re-sync.
The last resort is to do a clean full restore. However, that method means you have to re-do your 1.1.3 jailbreak, which is very troublesome.
Sorry if I’m not been of any help to you.
Cheers.

Hi Shadow
If you can confirm that you can upgrade from 1.1.2 (jb) to 1.1.3 (jb) without hitting any problems, do let me know.
I think I will have to update this post soon.
Cheers.

I bricked my iPod trying to figure out how to reload SummerBoard themes and why the Notes feature had stopped working. I previously had 1.1.2 jail broken and had updated to 1.1.3 using ipodtouchmaster’s method; 7 freakin’ hours wasted.
So I had to restore it back to 1.1.1, but could not update it to 1.1.2 because of iTunes 7.6. Trying to make it work on iTunes 7.5 on another computer did not work either. After using ijailbreak via 1.1.1 firmware, I was able to successfully get back to 1.1.3 (jailbroken), and everything seems to be okay (thankfully) but with a few exceptions.
I’m currently having trouble re-installing SSH and getting iZoo back, despite the fact that I had re-added the source. I’m also trying to figure out how to get rid of the ijailbreak image that’s currently hogging my iPod space. Anyone know how to fix this without severely compromising 1.1.3?

Hi Anonymous
Even if you try to try on another PC with iTunes 7.5, there are some files inside the iPod that prevents you to do so.
I have read about it, but I didn’t take note where. Now I’m desperately searching for it back.
Apparently, by deleting these files, it makes your iPod forget what iTunes it have been sync-ed with.
Maybe you’ve come across it.
I will try my very best to look into this.
Cheers.

“After that, you will want to free up some useless used up space. Go and download “Remove 1.1.3 Upgrade Data” so that it will remove all temporary files from your device.”
Okay, the Remove 1.1.3 Upgrade Data didn’t do anything for me. iPhone still shows 7.1 G of space available versus the previous 7.3 G. Can you please let me know what the Remove 1.1.3 Upgrade Data does so I can attempt it manually? (After running, it no longer appears in Installer)
Thanks for your help!

Hi riddickulous
The package doesn’t do anything except removing a certain folder.
If you want to manually remove those files, try connecting your iPhone via iBrickr, iphonebrowser or SFTP (via SSH) program, then look for this folder:
/var/root/Media/1.1.3
If it’s there, you can delete it.
If it’s not, then it have already been removed. If you still think that it’s not removed, then I’m really sorry, maybe that space have been used up by other things than the 1.1.3 temporary files.
Hope this helps.
Cheers.

Hey its me again (so sorry
) and I tried this method and the same thing happened to me again, my ipod restarted but was stuck at the screen with the apple icon. I am starting to guess it is a problem (or lack thereof) in my ipod not a jailbreak method. Now that summerboard and customize won’t let me install on version 1.1.2, I feel it nessecary to upgrade to 1.1.3! Please help me if you can because I am probably as tired of this as you are. Thanks once again!

Hi momott
I wanted to help as much as I could, but I’m still lacking of information.
I have read that if you are stuck at the Apple logo, wait for about 10-30 mins (you can take longer if you feel it’s necessary) because after the update, it will restart. If nothing happens, try to restart the device manually. If that fails, then I really don’t know what’s going on.
Sorry if I’ve not been of any help.
My final suggestion after all failed: expect for another jailbreak release. It seems that neither any of the posted jailbreaking methods works like a charm. It makes matters worse when you are using iTunes 7.6, which will make you attempt to jailbreak 1.1.2 useless. So the only (probably only) successful jailbreak is 1.1.1.
I will try to see if there’s any workaround for anything. Though it won’t be that soon.
Good luck.

Hi momott
I did my share of researching… And here’s what I found out:
(NOTE: you will need a working wifi, because you will need to SSH into the device, and this is not an automatic jailbreak method)
Visit this page and follow it’s instructions.
It seems that the iJailbreak and NateTrue’s method are the same. I will update my post for other readers.
Good luck! Oh, I haven’t tried it out, but I’m sure that’s the better way.

Thank you so much I am going to try that method as soon as possible. Also I have found that it is 100 percent posible to jailbreak 1.1.2 while using iTunes 7.6. I just shift click update and choose my 1.1.2 restore file and run a program found off of ipodtouchmaster’s website and it installs installer so maybe it isn’t using OctoPrep even if I install it. So yes, each time I have tried to jailbreak I have been using 1.1.2. Thank you again

Hi yeah
I’m not sure about what you’re trying to uninstall, but I’m trying to give it a few days to revamp the contents of this page.
It seems that I have been misleading many people into getting their 1.1.3 jailbroken into a WRONG method.
If you still want to jailbreak 1.1.3, use the DevTeam official upgrader.
Good luck.

Hi Zhenya Dryden
That’s ZiPhone’s verbose boot. It’s doing it’s thing. Unless you’re hitting the “BSD root: Md0, major 2, minor 0″ repeating itself over and over, it means your iPod can’t be jailbroken using ZiPhone.
I suggest you try to restore it.
Read my other post for issues regarding these.
Cheers.

Hi Hubert Fernandez
You got that error while attempting this version of the jailbreak??? That only happens if you used the ZiPhone.
Q1: What device? iPod Touch/iPhone?
Q2: How many GB?
Q3: Previously jailbroken?
If you on 16GB/32GB iPod Touch, I suggest not attempting the ZiPhone’s method. Read my other posts on topics discussing this issue though.
Cheers.

i have a strong signal inm y house and stuff.

Hi anonymous
Did you, by any chance, jailbreak via this method describe in this post?
Or you had used another jailbreak method?
Either way, I think it has something to do with the network settings.
Look inside settings, under reset, there’s a “Reset Network Settings”. Try this, and see if it solves the problem.
Cheers.

Any idea how to jailbreak 1.1.4?
dermapthera said,
March 11, 2008 at 3:07 pm
Hi Shadow
The only way to jailbreak 1.1.4 currently is to use ZiPhone.
However, if you’re on 16GB/32GB, ZiPhone might not work for you as intended.
Please visit my new blog for the instructions.
Cheers.
