There is a better jailbreak method, without downgrading at all.

Yes ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, people of all ages… Introducing, the revolutionary, offi… wait a minute… It’s unofficial? Unofficial release of the Jailbreak for 1.1.3.

Well… To my dismay, I thought it was the real thing. But it does makes your device run in 1.1.3, jailbroken. Well here are the details.

There have been some drama and dispute over the release of this jailbreak 1.1.3, so I suggest you can try it AT YOUR OWN RISK.

NOTE: Prior to jailbreaking 1.1.3, there have been reports on applications not working. So I strongly suggest waiting for a better release, with better compatibility. I’m sure you guys don’t want to screw up your iPod for nothing.

Here’s the “drama” part.

From http://www.zdziarski.com/, written on 24th January 2008:

NateTrue has recently leaked a v1.1.3 Jailbreak without the Dev-Team’s permission, getting himself kicked off the team. Against our wishes, he’s included both files belonging to Apple and patches which contain copyrighted information by Apple, making his personal release illegal and unethical. This is directly contrary to the spirit of true hacking, honorable competition, and sharing of knowledge. He’s a disgrace to developers everywhere. I’d like to strongly advise against using his system for upgrading, and make it known that the rest of the dev team does not support software piracy or copyright infringement. The method the Dev Team was/is planning on releasing allows you to perform the jailbreak without violating federal law.

If you asked me, I’ll probably wait for another release. I’m sure the iPhone dev team has something better to offer, since they wanted to keep it all legal, although Nate True has already done his personal release. I wonder which part of hacking is legal? Hmmm… :-/

Anyway, here’s a video tutorial on how to Jailbreak 1.1.3.

I wonder what’s taking ipodtouchmaster so long? Maybe he has other better things to do than to entertain with jailbreaking and stuff. 😛

For now, I am not going to upgrade my set yet. I’m going to see how far can this controversy go.

Well, for those who’s willing to give it a try, why not? After all, the iPod Touch was a personal computer, and we bought it, so it’s perfectly legal if we can do whatever we want with it.

And for Apple, how does hacking the iPod Touch makes your sales go down huh? Don’t bullshit. If there are people who knew that hacking their iPods is possible, people wouldn’t mind buying it so that they can enjoy more out of it.

Just a piece of my mind.

Cheers.
