Jailbreak 1.1.3 using ZiPhone by zibri v2.4 (iPhone and iPod Touch)

You can now jailbreak 1.1.3/1.1.4 without the BSD error. The follow up for this post is here.

Cool. Now what do you mean it doesn’t support iPod touch? It sounds like you have tried this with success on yours?

  2. dermapthera said,

It just means, zibri did not release this for iPod Touch support. So use at your own risk. 🙂

Well, I tried the old one. And that brought me to the usual “BDS root error” with the md0s and majors and minors thing. I’ve tried to restart it and do the whole “hold the home button until it restarts with the itunes logo,” but it just restarts with the scrolling text. What do I do?

    Hi plankton

    Do try this.

If it’s connected to the USB dock connector, remove it.

This is the only way to recover from this error. Hold the Home button (Home button is tricky, so enough force is needed so that it’s pressed down), and the Standby button simultaneously. It will restart on it’s own.

This is a tried and tested method. If you failed, try again.

I have a 16g ipod touch and tried to do the ziphone jailbreak. Unfortunately mine ended up with the stupid BDS error. However my friend who has the same thing also tried and hers worked sucessfully. Any thoughts? Is it just the luck of the draw or am i doing it wrong?

    Hi mdude

    It’s pure luck.

Though there might be some technical issues. I am still looking into it (well, noone has ever figured it out anyway).

Check with your friend whether she has her device jailbroken before. It could be, that some traces of previous jailbreaking attempts are still intact, hence making the ZiPhone work flawlessly.

However this is just MY ASSUMPTION. Whether it’s true or not depends on what you may discover.

For now, stay put with a stock 1.1.3 or jailbreak into version 1.1.2 (or 1.1.1) until a better jailbreak option for the iPod Touch appears.

Great thanks. I was going to try the jailbreak one more time but im afraid that if i try it and get the BDS error again i wont be able to restore the ipod..could the error break the ipod if i get it too many times?

    Hi mdude

If you had the same error over and over (I think 3 times is enough), it just means you can’t jailbreak it using ZiPhone.

The bad news is, you’ll have to wait.

The good news is, zibri (author of ZiPhone) ordered a 32GB iTouch just to create a iPod Touch compatible of ZiPhone.

Watch this video on how to recover from the BSD Error.

Sounds like a plan. Thanks a lot. Let me know if you hear anything about the itouch jailbreaks.

    Sure thing.

I’m also anxious at what zibri’s gonna release though.

Let’s just hope more people support him, and he’ll definitely help.

Have used ziphone on a 16gb iphone and everything work nice

    Hi Maxp

Yes, ZiPhone will work flawlessly on iPhone 4GB, 8GB and 16GB. It won’t work as expected on iPod Touch 16GB and 32GB.

Not just the 16 and 32gb touches, I can not jailbreak my 8gb touch either. I keep getting the BSD error. It’s never been jailbroken before, if that matters. I’ve tried ZiPhone 2.4 and 2.5. :/

    Hi kb

It is known that ZiPhone does not really work on all iPod Touches. Zibri himself has acknowledge that fact, hence there’s really nothing you can do about it.

If you really want to jailbreak, leave at jailbroken 1.1.2.

    Or try the DevTeam update.

However I have not written a foolproof guide on using the DevTeam version yet, so you’ll have to try looking elsewhere. The DevTeam upgrade works for any version, any capacity.

    OK All,
First off ziphone usually works with 8GB iTouches. The problem with the 16GB iPhone and iTouch and probably the 32GB iTouch as well is that the 16GB models either come with one 16GB chip or two 8GB, the 16GB chip appears to have a better success rate and the two 8GB chips seem to usually fail. This is due to the fact ziphone probably recognizes both 8GB chips and tries to jailbreak them both, i.e. loads modded bootloader and firmware to both chips which will cause and internal error. Thus the 16GB chip having a higher success rate. If anyone can verify my findings with their two 8GB chip iTouch and their one 16GB chip iTouch mail me at Geniusdog254@gmail.com

    Hope this helps someone,
