Converting videos for iPod Touch
This article can cover for all iPods, from the first generation to iPhone. If you own an iPod that has video playback capabilities, you would have known that it supports h264 mp4 video formats and quicktime mov formats. If you’re looking for a converter, you can just use the 3GP_Converter and it works. It works for me at least…
Anyway, the basic of the 3GP_Converter is a little intimidating for non-tech savvy personnel who uses it. However, the bottom line is that it’s pretty straight forward. You choose the settings, set the output folder, then drag the file. All the work is done inside the transcoding scripts contained inside “default_setting”. If you’re a little adventurous, you can even open it and read it, it’s really very straight forward.
Here’s an example of the script, for converting iPod format videos.

I could explain it if you want, but that is the basic of the encoding file. This script will convert any supported formats (e.g. mpeg, 3gp, mp4, avi, mov, flv, divx etc) and output as m4v format, playable for iPod.
Video format is made up of:
- h264 video
- QVGA (320 x 240)
- 30 fps
- 192 kbps
Audio format is made up of:
- AAC
- 48 kbps
- 44100 khz
- Joint stereo
If you want to know, these commands are ffmpeg specific commands. If you’ve been using ffmpeg then you can view their commands and usage. The best thing about this program is that it allows 100% customisation of your script. You can ask me for a setting if you want, if I have the time, I can write one specifically for your needs.
Silent Civilian (Rebirth Of The Temple) Album Review
I just got my hands on Silent Civilian’s latest album. I must say, I am impressed with their songs and I’m currently listening to it.

My rating: 8.5/10. Though this album might deserve more, but it’s more about the band. They kept changing line-ups eversince their formation. But I hope they can muster proper band mates and make another album, because I’m definitely looking for one in the future.
On the footnote, if only I can meet them, probably I’ll audition myself to be their guitarist! LOL!!! 😛

Previously, before I have my hands onto the iPod Touch, I was using the Limited Edition Creative Zen V Plus.
I love it to bits. Well I’m a Pink junkie if you asked me, but in reality, this is the only pink gadget I’ve used. The thing I was attracted to was it’s Album Art functionalities. Well, I just love visual things. 🙂
So you can also add album arts to your collection of music files using iTunes. Just follow the steps here.
